It is the branch of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease s affecting the tooth root, and the supporting bone, ligaments and surrounding tissues (gums) of the teeth. The goal of periodontal therapy is to preserve the natural dentition in health and comfortable function.
